Cancer is personal to me...

My entire life, I have watched how cancer has taken things from people's lives. It takes away best friends, role models and heros. It steals nights of sleep, meals to eat and hard earned money. Cancer has taken my grandfather who missed my wedding. Cancer stole a young boy in our town that should be swimming at the local pool. Cancer took a family friend that should be joining us for dinner. 

I don't understand the science behind finding a cure and the process that it takes to test, re-test and test again all the ideas that scientists have, but I do understand that it ALL COSTS MONEY. Each test tube, each beaker and each piece of equipment has a dollar sign next to it. The H Foundation has affiliated with a team that knows that the cure to cancer is in the RESEARCH! 

I have realized that The Goombay Bash and The H Foundation are so MUCH more than a party or a fundraising team. We are a symbol of a life with out cancer. Leis around a guest's neck means a new treatment has been found. A Goombay Smash means they had another breakthrough. And seeing the final amount raised at the end of the night with the confetti and tears falling means that we ARE going to find a cure for cancer.

Cancer does not discriminate... it affects 1 in 3 people. We, at The H Foundation, are united by the common goal to make a difference in the fight against cancer. We commit our time and resources because cancer is personal to each of us. 

Established in 2001, The H Foundation has raised over $11 million, donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects to help them compete for additional government or private funding. As a result, our donations have been leveraged into over $153 million of research dollars towards finding a cure. The H Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 100% of our funding comes from donations by generous businesses, communities, families, individuals, and... from you.
